Vantage's Northern Valley Adult Day Health Center provides care and supervision for the frail elderly who live in 16 towns in the Northeast corner of Bergen County. Many of the participants of the center suffer from physical or cognitive problems, as well as social isolation due to their illness. Our participants gain physical strength and build back self-esteem through purposeful activities and stimulating projects.
When someone does an outstanding job I believe they need to be recognized for their efforts. Northern Valley Adult Day Health Center is an excellent program that ALWAYS goes above and beyond ones expectations. The staff should be commended for all their outstanding performances towards all the clientele. This Adult Day Program and staff is one of (if not the) best I have ever experienced. Thank you Vantage Health System for all you do.
-Quote from a recent Client Satisfaction Questionnaire

Dear Friends: As you can see from the facing article, we will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary of our Northern Valley Adult Day Health Center on June 1st. I hope that you can join us in the celebration which will honor staff, volunteers, clients, and caregivers. Yet, as we celebrate the success of this program, we are cognizant of an upcoming tough budget year as the state budget faces unprecedented fiscal challenges. Unfortunately, the proposed freeze on spending will translate into cuts in funding and services and will affect not-for-profit organizations, such as Vantage, who contract with state government to provide much needed services to hundreds of thousands of New Jersey's most vulnerable residents. Individuals with mental illness will, once again, be short-changed with the proposed 2008 budget. Individuals on Medicaid are being asked to pay a co-pay for medications. Co-pays for these individuals with a mental illness are counter productive and could result in increased hospitalizations, costing the state more. Our mandate to serve all individuals in need of mental health or addiction treatment, regardless of ability to pay is hampered by no increase in funding. Here at Vantage we will continue to advocate for those we serve and increase our efforts to bring in new revenue through new programs, grants and fundraising. I ask for your support in our advocacy effort with our state legislators for the 2009 budget. Help us continue to help your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. Your voices and support can make a difference.
Thank You.
Sincerely,
Vicki Sidrow
